MatchBox Consulting Group is searching for a Business Development Professional in Calgary, AB. Our client is a medium-sized construction company known for its collaborative approach, specializing in commercial and industrial building projects across Western Canada. They emphasize a team-oriented, entrepreneurial culture, where business development and project management teams work closely to drive project success and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities by networking with commercial realtors, bankers, and potential clients in the real estate development industry.
• Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, helping them find sites, obtain financing, and manage the initial planning of projects.
• Gather market intelligence on who is buying land or securing loans for new developments and use that information to initiate contact with potential clients.
• Develop conceptual design and budget estimates to guide prospective clients through initial project planning stages.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams (Estimators, PMs) to move projects forward from conception to execution, ensuring a seamless client experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years in business development or sales, ideally in construction or a related field (e.g., commercial real estate).
• Strong relationship-building skills, with a “hunter” mentality to proactively find and connect with new clients.
• Ability to understand and estimate building and lot square footage, as well as associated project costs.
• Proven resourcefulness and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency with basic computer tools for tracking leads, estimating, and maintaining client information.
