MatchBox Consulting Group are currently seeking a Construction Site Coordinator on behalf of one of BC’s largest electrical and utility companies.
Location: Surrey, BC | Hybrid
Estimated Contract Duration: 1 year
Purpose of the role: Oversee and manage various aspects of construction projects, including planning, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating field activities to ensure smooth execution and successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing engineering specifications, contract conditions, and recommending methods to minimize costs and scheduling impacts. Revise estimates as necessary.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs for materials and components, calculate direct costs, and assess risk situations for accurate pricing.
- Markup Application: Apply established markups to direct cost components to ensure full overhead recovery.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Prepare work schedules, coordinate project activities, and may design drawings or operate electrical testing equipment. Maintain progress data and advise on changes to work plans.
- Bid and Tender Documentation: Compile schedules of pay items, prepare bid submissions, and analyze contractor submissions for bid analysis. Verify accuracy of quantity calculations.
- Procurement Documentation: Obtain technical information and costs for materials and equipment, review drawings and specifications, and prepare procurement documentation.
- Cost and Progress Tracking: Maintain up-to-date records of equipment costs, production rates, and material costs. Review cost/progress reports and assess the effects of scheduling changes.
- Technical Advice and Coordination: Provide technical advice and coordination to field crews and project teams. Participate in construction project teams as required.
- Discipline Knowledge: Possess excellent knowledge in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical disciplines and related standards, codes, and equipment for generation, substations, and transmission & distribution.
- Project Management Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in project management principles, accounting processes, and computer applications related to estimating, scheduling, costing, and project management. Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and
leadership skills.
Requirements:
Must Haves:
- Diploma of Technology or Degree in a construction-related field (Engineering, Forestry, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Quantity Surveying) or related trades qualification (Electrician, Winder, Power Line Technician, General Trades 1, Millwright)
- Class 5 drivers’ license
- Five (5) years of experience in construction and/or project management
Nice to Haves:
- Experience supporting construction crews
- Ability to work in both office and field environments, including exposure to inclement weather and construction site hazards
- Frequent driving required
