MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Distribution Electrical Engineer to work on a 16 month contract, with a high potential of renewal, for one of the province’s most recognizable organizations in the utility and clean energy sector. 

The successful Engineer would provide engineering services including addressing daily operational/planning requests and engineering services for capital work related to overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.

They would work in a hybrid model out of the Burnaby, BC office 2 days/week with occasional travel to sites. As such, candidates must be located in the Vancouver region or willing to relocate. 

Responsibilities
• Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the  Distribution System.
• Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, including the more challenging and unusual, by developing engineering techniques, devising new approaches and/or applying existing criteria in new ways
• Provide technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of equipment

Requirements
Must haves:
– P.Eng registered in BC
– Permit to practice/ability to obtain one upon offer
– Degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by universities in Canada, Power Engineering preferred
– Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in both Overhead – and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV including automation
– Broad range of distribution related skills including planning, system engineering, protection engineering, design, and project management
– Demonstrated ability to perform system analysis
– Willingness to travel
– Maintain good standing in Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) throughout the term of the contract
– Maintain Driver’s License Class 5 throughout the term of the contract

Assets to have:
– Distribution Engineering experience
– Utilities Experience
– Worked with overhead modeling software (spidacalc, plscad)
