Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Distribution Regional Engineer to work on a 15-month contract for one of BC’s largest utility and energy companies on a hybrid basis.

The successful candidates responsibilities will include addressing daily operational requests and delivering project engineering services for capital work.

Responsibilities:
• All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to Overhead – and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.
• Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the clients Distribution System.
• Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, including the more challenging and unusual, by developing engineering techniques, devising new approaches and/or applying existing criteria in new ways
• Provide technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of equipment

Requirements:

• A minimum eight (8) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
• Must have a P.Eng. and registered with EGBC in good standing.
• Class 5 driver’s license
• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
• Knowledge and understanding of distribution engineering – Medium Voltages (4kv – 35kv) for overhead and underground assets.  Understanding transformation and services at the secondary level would also be an expectation.
• Would be an asset to have working knowledge of: CymeDist, CymeTCC, SpidaCALC, or PLSCAD.
• Canadian Utility experience, an asset
• Degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by universities in Canada, Power Engineering preferred
