On behalf of our clients Matchbox Consulting is seeking an experienced and highly skilled General Superintendent with a minimum of 15+ years of hands-on experience in wood frame multi-family construction. As the General Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful execution of our projects, ensuring high-quality construction standards, and maintaining a safe working environment. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing all on-site activities, including subcontractors, scheduling, quality control, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of wood frame construction techniques, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven track record of delivering successful multi-family projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination and Management:

    • Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring efficient project execution and adherence to project schedules.
    • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of construction milestones.
    • Monitor and track project progress, identifying potential issues or delays and implementing proactive solutions.
  2. Quality Control and Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to ensure high construction standards are maintained throughout the project.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify deficiencies, non-compliance, or potential safety hazards, and take corrective action as necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  3. Subcontractor Management:

    • Select, evaluate, and manage subcontractors, ensuring their adherence to project specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
    • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities, including scheduling, performance evaluation, and resolution of any disputes or issues.
  4. Safety Management:

    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
    • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  5. Team Leadership:

    • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to on-site construction teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Effectively communicate project goals, expectations, and changes to the team, ensuring alignment and understanding.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training and development programs to enhance team skills and capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in wood frame multi-family construction, with a strong track record of successful project delivery.
  • Thorough understanding of wood frame construction techniques, processes, and materials.
  • Proficient knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to multi-family construction.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and lead on-site teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Proven experience in subcontractor management, scheduling, and project coordination.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with the ability to implement and enforce safety protocols effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
