MatchBox Consulting Group is on the hunt for an Intermediate Modular Designer in Aldergrove, BC. Please note that modular design/drafting experience is NOT a requirement, this is a great place to learn.

Responsibilities

• Would be involved with proposals (drawing packages) working with senior leadership team
• Involved with production drawings – for construction packages
• Oversee process from start to finish
• Using existing templates to create modular construction floor plans while understanding the client requirements and ensuring all applicable codes are met
• Creating building permit drawings when needed and completing production drawing packages once work has been awarded
• Coordinating with the Project Manager and consultants to monitor the project budget and schedule?
• Coordinating with the Purchasing department to ensure specified equipment and products within the structures can be procured in a timely manner
• Interact with onsite manufacturing personnel construction details
• Attend and support project kick off meetings with clients
• Attend and support production meetings prior to projects going online
• Overseeing junior drafting staff and mentoring

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing wood framed structures
• Experience creating construction documents with AutoCAD version 2011 or better
• Knowledge of products and design criteria needed to analyze and design projects
• Understanding of architectural design, practices and processes for residential, commercial and institutional structures
• Knowledge of basic structural systems and components
• Understanding of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems as they relate to space planning
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and their interpretations
• Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel

And if you can check all those boxes, these skills would be a bonus too:

• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience in modular building designs, concepts and practices
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and/or Autodesk Architectural Desktop / BIM
• Experience with Step Codes /Passive House or similar energy efficiency approaches to building
