Matchbox Consulting is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Accountant for our client. The Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of their construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and monitor project budgets, track expenses, and analyze financial data to ensure that the project stays within budgetary constraints.
• Implement and maintain cost accounting systems that accurately capture the costs associated with the construction project, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Prepare and present financial reports on project performance, including cash flow projections, income statements, and balance sheets.
• Manage contracts with vendors, ensuring that payments are made in a timely manner and that vendors are meeting their obligations under the contract.
• Manage the change order process, including reviewing change order requests, estimating the impact of change orders on project costs, and ensuring that change orders are properly documented and approved.
• Identify and analyze financial risks associated with the construction project, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate risks to project stakeholders.
• Provide regular financial updates to project stakeholders, including the project manager and senior management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting in the construction industry.
• Experience with cost accounting systems and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
