Matchbox is working with a well-established residential design firm with a strong portfolio of custom homes across North America. With a collaborative, high-performing team and a commitment to thoughtful, elevated design, they’re looking to hire a Senior Interior Designer to lead their growing department. This is a key leadership role with a mix of hands-on design, team management, and strategic oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and creative leadership to the interior design team, setting the tone for quality, collaboration, and innovation
• Manage resourcing across projects and assign work to ensure the right team members are in the right seats
• Take ownership of key client relationships, guiding project direction and ensuring high standards of delivery
• Present proposals and design packages with confidence and clarity, both internally and to clients
• Track team performance against financial and utilization goals, adjusting plans as needed
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define department priorities and contribute to overall company strategy
• Foster a culture of feedback, growth, and accountability through regular check-ins and performance reviews

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in interior design, with a strong foundation in residential or custom home environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field
• A portfolio that demonstrates both creative vision and technical execution
• Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing people and projects
• Skilled in developing and reviewing full design packages including drawings, materials, and specifications
• Strong communication skills and a thoughtful, proactive approach to problem-solving
• A natural collaborator who brings professionalism, creativity, and a high standard of excellence to every project
