MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager (12 Month Contract role)  at a public sector client of ours located in Victoria. This role is a remote position with some travel required to the companies Victoria BC office. Candidate must be based in Victoria/Vancouver Island or Vancouver/lower mainland with the ability to travel to Victoria as required.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the implementation and rollout of a replacement of our current corporate accounting system, covering the record to report, source to pay, and budget to actual business processes.

The project will involve internal and external stakeholders and will require rigorous testing prior to go-live. The successful candidate will bring expertise in project management with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Pay Rate: $90.00/hr to $120.00/hr

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apply a comprehensive understanding of project management to: o Plan and execute project, which may have several components or workstreams as defined with our chosen software vendor and system integrator
o Manage stakeholders and cross-project dependencies
o Ensure project team activities remain aligned with project objectives, scope, budget and timelines
o Monitor, track and report on project progress, resourcing, risks, issues and performance on a regular and ad hoc basis
• Manage the quality of project deliverables; ensure they meet all identified business and technical requirements; and are approved according to the project’s governance framework
• Following project delivery guidelines – and as agreed with the project sponsor and/or business owner– complete and maintain relevant, fit-for-purpose artifacts, which may include a stakeholder assessment, charter, budget, governance framework, project communications plan, risk register, decision log and project plan
• Assess options for issue resolution, develop action plans and take corrective actions as needed
• Organize, facilitate, and document decisions and action items cross-functional meetings with project team members, advisory council, Technology leadership and other stakeholders as required
• Ensure solution design is aligned with architectural principles and standards
• Ensure the project develops a viable, approved operational support/sustainment model
• Support a smooth transition to operations that includes a post-implementation support period
• Work closely with Procurement team on any procurement activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have:

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a formal Project Management role, including at least 5 years’ experience at a senior level leading complex financial system implementation projects covering similar processes
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, such as Accounting, Finance, or Business
• PMP or other equivalent project management designation
• Experience working with institutional investors and Finance teams in particular
• Proficiency managing competing priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to positively interact with and influence peers, managers and senior leaders, and executives
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills
