Our client, a Canadian general contractor, looking for a multi-family wood-frame Site Superintendent to join their Victoria team.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Understand and provide expertise in all aspects of the construction process. Civil, Concrete, Framing, Building Systems (Fire Protection, HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical), Finishing, Inspections, and close-out.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of plans and specifications, work schedules, delivery targets and procedures related to change orders, claims and costing.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with site staff, sub-trades, consultants, engineers, and regional authorities, while maintaining a strong presence and involvement in all site activities.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and maintaining the construction schedule and site management plan, documents, and reporting. Provide weekly schedule updates to maintain production with-in budget.
  • Establish and maintain quality control measures.
  • Manage relationships with all sub-contractors, identify any scope of work issues and implement measures to proactively address emerging quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to manage all required municipal, provincial and contract inspections.
  • Collaborate and Work with ECCC to streamline and follow our construction processes.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel on site. Monitor safety performance and oversee compliance with WorkSafeBC and BC Workplace Safety standards.
  • Before assigning work, recognize hazards and provide guidance to employees and contractors on how to work in a more safe and efficient manner, correcting unsafe acts immediately.
  • Review documents and drawings for accuracy and constructability.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and developing staff. Provide ongoing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing levels and follow ECCC processes, procedures, and delegation of authority to ensure materials and equipment are ordered to maintain project schedule and productivity.
  • Maintain a site consistent with Our professional image, while keeping a clean and organized site and office.
  • Pre-construction work for other projects such as Light House, Constance House, Lake Country or any other projects as well as future projects, including engineering, design, drawing review/improvement, cost savings identification, pre-bid and preliminary pricing reviews alongside Project Manager, bid interviews and trade selection.
  • Mentoring more junior employees.
  • Ensure the jobsite is opened at the beginning of the day and secured at the end of the day or securing a suitable alternate opening and closing procedures with ECCC.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a multi family Superintendent is minimum
  • 2 multi-family wood frame projects start to finish
  • Experience with 2 level underground parkade
  • Experience with Procore
  • Red Seal Carpenter / Previous Carpentry Experience
  • PMP designation

Who you are

  • As Site Superintendent, you and your team are responsible for project completion. In this role, you will be a leader, coach, and mentor. You will be managing daily on-site activity for your project, to ensure the project is constructed in close conformity to plans and specifications, while ensuring quality, safety, and successful project delivery.
