A leading forestry consulting firm is seeking a Strategic Planning Forester with strong communication and facilitation skills to support clients across BC and Western Canada. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely or from one of their offices in Prince George or Kamloops, BC.

With multiple locations throughout Canada, they are a prominent provider of integrated forest land development and management services. Their team comprises industry leaders in forestry technology, strategic planning, resource and land management, and professional forestry. What You'll Do:
As a Strategic Planning Forester, you will collaborate with senior planners and forest analysts to address various forest land management challenges, including forest stewardship, landscape resilience, and wildfire risk management. You will play a key role in facilitating and coordinating planning processes, leveraging your extensive knowledge of forest legislation, policy, and landscape-level management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and facilitate planning processes for forest stewardship, landscape resilience, and wildfire risk management.
  • Work on projects such as Forest Landscape Plans, Integrated Resource Management Plans, Land Use Plans, Old Growth Management Strategies, Wildfire Management Plans, and Climate Vulnerability Assessments.
  • Apply problem-solving and written communication skills to provide innovative solutions to clients.
  • Manage projects and lead diverse groups in planning processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in natural resource management.
  • 5-8 years of related experience in the forest sector, focusing on landscape-scale forest management planning.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an RPF (BC or AB).
  • Experience in facilitating or leading diverse groups.
  • Understanding of forestry GIS datasets and timber supply modeling processes is an asset.
  • Background in operational forest management and/or wildfire risk management is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and within a project team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and quality.
