On behalf of our client Matchbox Consulting is seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent to join our client, a leading general contractor. This role will involve working closely with the Senior Superintendent on a site featuring 180-unit wood frame construction and a heritage house renovation. The Assistant Site Superintendent will play a key role in overseeing on-site operations and ensuring the smooth execution of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Site Superintendent, Construction/Project Manager, and project team to manage on-site operations.
- Advise the Site Superintendent or Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, scheduling difficulties, and other issues.
- Foster clear communication among senior executives, Project Managers, the development team, on-site trades, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain a cohesive and productive work environment.
- Support the maintenance of project schedules, promptly addressing adjustments or changes during the construction process.
- Liaise between field engineers and estimators to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
- Monitor and execute the project construction plan and schedule.
- Review and understand contracts and subcontracts, including undertaking risk and risk mitigation plans.
- Supervise, develop, and mentor workers.
- Contribute to a culture of professional project delivery by establishing behavioral guidelines, best practices, and a system of accountability.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
- Demonstrated progressive experience in general contracting as a superintendent in multifamily or commercial construction.
- Trade background in carpentry and/or Gold Seal Certification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of local concrete or wood frame construction structures on multifamily projects over 50 units.
- Minimum one project completed as an Assistant Site Superintendent.
- Experience managing subtrades.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High energy with a positive attitude.
- Well-developed and adaptable communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates solid judgment regarding sensitive information.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Familiarity with MS Project and SiteMax is an asset.
