Job Title: Construction Officer – Site Safety Coordination

Location: Vernon, BC

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Officer to act as a Site Safety Coordinator for a transmission line upgrade project near Kamloops, BC. The successful candidate will oversee safety coordination, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and effective management of site activities involving multiple contractors and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the on-site safety coordinator, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor work quality, safety, and compliance on civil, electrical, and mechanical projects.
• Perform Safe Work Observations to enhance safety performance.
• Conduct or coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities.
• Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure project quality and compliance.
• Provide expert advice on complex technical issues as needed.
• Represent the organization professionally, responding to site inquiries with excellent communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of seven (7) years of construction experience or equivalent.
• Valid trade certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel.
• Strong understanding of WorkSafe regulations, including Prime Contractor and Multi-Employer Workspace guidelines.
• Effective presentation skills for delivering site orientation to new workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate First Aid Certification.
• Previous experience with transmission line construction.

Education:

• Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualifications.
• Training in contract law.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Standards).
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in diverse and potentially challenging site conditions.

Additional Information:

• This is a safety-sensitive position requiring D&A compliance.
• Insurance coverage is required for this role.
