Senior Mechanical Estimator

Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator for our client, a leading mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze project documents (blueprints, specifications, RFPs) to determine scope and requirements.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping).

• Perform material take-offs and labor estimates using estimating software.

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities, value engineering options, and scope gaps.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to develop bid strategies.

• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.

• Assist with bid proposals and presentation materials for clients.

• Maintain historical cost data and unit pricing for future estimates.

• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and code requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or related mechanical construction role.

• Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems in commercial or industrial construction.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

• Experience with estimating software (e.g., Trimble Autobid, QuickPen, FastPIPE, or equivalent).

• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
