MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a 6 month contract role with a client of ours located in Vancouver
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the specific product business domain, contributing technical expertise.
  • Collaborate across teams, stepping outside the core group to support multiple squads and initiatives.
  • Take ownership of complex projects, ensuring seamless end-to-end execution beyond personal development scope.
  • Debug and optimize systems effectively, ensuring their stability and reliability.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one major skill outside of programming, such as DevOps, performance optimization, monitoring, or visual design.
  • Produce technical documentation, propose system enhancements, and participate in codebase refactoring to improve maintainability.
  • Engage in code reviews extensively, providing mentorship and guidance through peer collaboration.
  • Execute performance tuning, usability improvements, automation, and system balancing as required.
  • Contribute to common codebases and define standards for the broader engineering team.
  • Share knowledge and insights through presentations at team meetings.
  • Participate in the Engineering Guild, shaping best practices and guidelines.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges independently, seeking collaboration or insights when necessary.
  • Lead technical design for moderately complex projects, making informed trade-offs to ensure quality software development.
  • Work autonomously, requiring minimal oversight while breaking down complex tasks into manageable components.
  • Identify future areas of improvement, proactively suggesting initiatives for enhanced efficiency.
  • Gather evidence to support ideas, presenting strong rationales for improvements and optimizations.
  • Effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity in requirement definition and course correction.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in full-stack development within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Versatile in programming languages, excelling in 1 or 2 languages.
  • Extensive knowledge of C#, PHP, JavaScript best practices.
  • Experience working with transactional and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong proficiency in writing and maintaining automated user tests and unit tests.
  • Advocate for a schema-first approach in API development.
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs, OAuth 2.0, and headless solutions.
  • Familiar with cloud computing providers, container solutions, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledgeable in Microservices architecture and related concepts.
  • Experience managing CDN, web servers, and load balancers.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving technical issues, ensuring optimal solutions.
  • Adaptable and flexible when faced with ambiguity.
