Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer  for a long-term contract position based out of Burnaby, BC. This hybrid role involves supporting medium-complexity projects in electrical and security design, with occasional site visits for testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services on medium-complexity projects and operations.
• Develop designs and resolve technical problems using sound engineering judgment.
• Support project delivery by coordinating schedules, preparing reports, and recommending design changes or contractor payments.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical standards and practices.
• Conduct site visits approximately once every two months for 4 days at a time.

Technical Scope:

• Electrical and/or Protection & Control (P&C) design, including:
  • Equipment layout and schematic design
  • Equipment sizing and cable selection
  • Collaboration with drafters, designers, and Person of Record (POR)
  • Familiarity with local drafting standards (asset)
• Security system design: equipment selection, layout, wiring, and schematics
• Design of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
• On-site testing and commissioning support
• Contribution to standards and documentation updates

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant electrical engineering field
• Registered P.Eng. with a Permit to Practice (P2P) with EGBC (sole practitioner or via a firm)
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License (required for periodic travel)
• Strong communication skills (written and spoken English)
• Proficiency with CAD systems, MS Office, and standard design/analysis tools

Nice to Have:

• Background in Protection & Control (P&C)
• Experience in security system design engineering
