Construction Officer – Civil (Vernon, BC)

We are seeking experienced Construction Officers – Civil to join a multidisciplinary team for a transmission line upgrade project. This role involves coordinating and inspecting site activities, including road and crane pad construction, while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule compliance.

Location: Vernon, BC
Duration: June 16, 2025 – June 16, 2026
Hours: 10 hours/day, 14/7 FIFO or long drive (camp or hotel accommodations with per diem; trucks provided or personal vehicle reimbursed)

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as construction site coordinator and inspector on civil, electrical, and/or mechanical projects

• Inspect work on substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment

• Ensure work site safety through Safe Work Observations and adherence to safety standards

• Conduct or coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities using engineering drawings

• Support contract and work order administration to ensure projects meet schedule, cost, and quality targets

• Provide guidance on complex technical issues as a subject matter expert

• Respond professionally to internal and third-party construction inquiries

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in a civil trade (e.g., heavy equipment operator) or completion of a National Diploma of Technology in Civil Engineering

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license

• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel

• Willingness to work at remote sites throughout BC

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Intermediate First Aid Certification

• Substation and/or road construction experience

• Knowledge of Site Safety Coordination and Multi-Employer Workplace WorkSafe regulations

• Contract knowledge

Additional Requirements:

• Safety-sensitive position: D&A testing required
