MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Project Manager, Bridges on behalf of our client, a leading employee-owned Canadian engineering consultancy delivering complex transportation infrastructure across Alberta.
This role sits within a vibrant, growing Transportation Structures Group and is a key leadership position responsible for managing bridge projects from planning through delivery for provincial and major urban municipal clients.

The Project Manager will lead multi-discipline design teams, own client relationships, and drive project performance across a portfolio of standard and major bridge infrastructure projects. Based in Calgary or Edmonton, this position offers a hybrid work environment with occasional travel across Alberta.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead planning, design, and technical delivery of bridge and transportation structure projects for Provincial and Major Urban clients.
  • Monitor, control, and report project status against scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Prepare and manage engineering fee estimates and financial forecasting for projects.
  • Apply project management principles to motivate, guide, and coordinate multi-discipline project teams.

Technical Leadership

  • Guide project teams through preparation of technical reports and engineering deliverables.
  • Provide structural engineering design input where applicable — there is opportunity to maintain and grow technical skills in this role.
  • Ensure client needs are met effectively and on time throughout the project lifecycle.

Business Development & Client Service

  • Prepare proposals and actively participate in business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Provincial and Major Urban Municipal clients.

Qualifications

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering or Project Management is an asset.

Professional Registration

  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering and/or project management within the transportation sector.
  • Proven track record managing projects with defined budgets and schedules.
  • Technical background in bridge design and construction is a strong asset.
  • Experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage clients and lead teams confidently.
  • Superior organizational and planning abilities; comfortable managing competing priorities under pressure.
  • Self-motivated team player with a passion for multi-discipline collaboration.
  • Valid driver’s license required; occasional travel expected.
