Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Operational Technology Engineer for our client, a leading energy utility organization recognized for delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable power solutions. The successful candidate will deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for low to medium complexity projects and operational initiatives within the Operational Technologies (OT) Services team.
This role places a particular emphasis on industrial network design and support at generating stations, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and IT teams to advance Generation Infrastructure and Cyber Security projects.
Contract Length: 1 year

Key Responsibilities

• Manage OT Services components for Generation Capital projects from design through implementation, ensuring quality and technical compliance.

• Provide engineering and technical support to project and construction teams throughout all project phases.

• Act as the primary contact for project tracking, reporting, and coordination with stakeholders.

• Develop, update, and document engineering standards, work processes, and maintenance instructions using tools such as Visio and AutoCAD.

• Support compliance initiatives related to NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements, including annual drawing reviews.

• Design and integrate Industrial Control System (ICS) devices into Generation LAN environments.

• Coordinate with internal business units, vendors, and external partners to align on design requirements and ensure timely deliverables.

• Participate in periodic field activities such as construction quality control and design compliance checks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).

• Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally involving operational or industrial networking, cyber asset management, or control system design.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, and standard MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear process diagrams and reports.

• Experience with NERC CIP standards and compliance processes is an asset.

• Familiarity with digital sign and seal technologies (e.g., Notarius) preferred.
