Matchbox Consulting, on behalf of our client in the consultancy sector, is searching for a Highway Design Engineer to join their team in either Burnaby or Kamloops. The role is open to candidates who can reasonably commute to either office, and the hire is needed as soon as possible to support major transportation projects,

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare design drawings, technical reports, letters, and memorandums
• Direct and support team members involved in the design process
• Provide construction-phase engineering support
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Contribute to or lead fee proposal preparation
• Ensure design quality aligns with established engineering and internal standards
• Collaborate closely with project teams and guide junior staff as needed
• Apply sound engineering methods and judgement to solve complex design challenges

What You Bring:

• 4+ years of civil consulting experience in design and project delivery
• Ability to manage project deliverables independently
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software
• Solid background in transportation or highway design
• Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent in engineering-related fields
• P.Eng. registration with a Canadian engineering association
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to quality
• Ability to organize, delegate, and review work while mentoring less experienced team members
