Project Accountant

Richmond, BC | In-Office

MatchBox Consulting Group is working with a well-established, growth-focused real estate development company to hire a Project Accountant to support active development and construction projects.

This role is well suited to a project-oriented accountant who wants hands-on exposure to real estate development, end-to-end project accounting, and long-term growth within a collaborative finance team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Controller and Assistant Controller, the Project Accountant will be responsible for project and full-cycle accounting across multiple development projects. The role works closely with development, construction, and project management teams and offers strong visibility into the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Project and development accounting including job costing, construction costs, operating revenues, and capital expenditures

• Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

• Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis

• Manage accounts payable and receivable related to construction activity

• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure accurate posting of transactions

• Monitor and report on development and construction costs against approved budgets

• Support cash flow management and project draw processes in line with lender requirements

• Assist with internal controls, audit preparation, and compliance

• Collaborate closely with development, construction, and project management teams

• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 3–5 years of real estate development or construction accounting experience

• Strong understanding of project accounting and job costing

• Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems preferred

• Advanced Excel skills required

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Clear communicator comfortable working cross-functionally

• CPA or progress toward designation is an asset, not required

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $72,000 – $88,000 (based on experience)
