MatchBox is seeking an Electrical Engineer.

We are an established Canadian engineering consulting firm delivering electrical and power systems solutions across industrial, resource, and energy projects in Canada and the United States. Our work spans project inception through commissioning, supporting clients in sectors such as wood processing, mining, power generation, renewables, and substations.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in a hands-on, technically grounded role with exposure to both power systems and industrial controls, working alongside senior technical leadership.

The Role

You will support and execute electrical engineering scopes across a range of industrial projects, contributing to design, analysis, coordination, and site support activities. This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys practical engineering, broad exposure, and working closely with experienced senior engineers.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Electrical design and documentation, including single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding, lighting, conduit, and cable tray

• Power system studies such as short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination

• Electrical equipment selection and integration (switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, generators)

• Development of motor schematics, wiring diagrams, and control diagrams

• Support of PLC and HMI configuration, I/O development, and commissioning activities

• Coordination with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal disciplines

• Participation in cost estimates, bid documentation, and technical evaluations

• Occasional site visits and commissioning support as required

Qualifications

• P.Eng. registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)

• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in Canadian industrial or power projects

• Background in power generation, distribution, substations, or heavy industrial facilities

• Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and industrial automation environments

• Familiarity with applicable standards and codes (CEC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA)

• Experience with tools such as EasyPower, SKM, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary consulting environment

• Eligible and willing to travel to the United States for project-related work

Compensation

• Base salary $120,000+, commensurate with experience
