MatchBox Consulting is on the hunt for an MRS Assurance Engineer. This candidate provides innovative engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium to high complexity projects and operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Contract: 1 year

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop engineering solutions, analyze and resolve complex design and field problems, and interpret specifications for medium to high complexity assignments.

• Support project management in achieving safety, cost, quality, and schedule objectives; propose changes, recommend contractor payments, and prepare progress reports.

• Conduct independent studies, contribute to technical standards, and provide guidance to other engineers.

• Communicate with stakeholders to define scope, establish design criteria, approve documentation, and report on project progress.

• Interpret operational and planning standards; advise teams on risk, controls, and compliance.

• Represent the organization with regulatory bodies (WECC, NERC, regional entities) and maintain peer utility relationships.

• Monitor emerging standards, lead internal reviews, and coordinate responses.

• Deliver training and coaching on compliance and technical standards.

• Conduct assurance activities including compliance assessments, control reviews, and mitigation planning.

• Prepare regulatory filings and reports, including standards adoption assessments and incident reporting.

Education & Experience:

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a relevant engineering field, including senior-level compliance experience in the electric utility industry.

• Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing standards, and industry design/analysis software.

• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• University degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in Mandatory Reliability Standards compliance.

• Knowledge of operating and planning the electrical grid, including NERC O&P or similar frameworks.

• Experience with governance frameworks such as NERC, EEI, WECC (asset).

Must Haves:

• Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing.

• Registered P.Eng. or P.Geo. with Permit to Practice (P2P).

• Deep understanding of compliance, technical standards, and operational risk for electrical grid systems.
