Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with a leading, Western Canada–based water infrastructure contractor specializing in the design and delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment solutions. Known for their integrated, multi-disciplinary approach and strong project execution capabilities, this team is seeking a Junior Water/Wastewater Engineer / Coordinator to join their Langley office.

This opportunity is best suited for a junior to intermediate engineer (0–4+ years of experience) who is eager to develop both technical design expertise and project coordination skills, with a clear growth path into project management.

The Role

As a Junior Water/Wastewater Engineer / Coordinator, you will support the design, coordination, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects. This is a hybrid technical and project-focused role, where you will contribute to engineering design, equipment procurement, and construction coordination while working closely with internal teams and field staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate treatment technologies and support equipment selection

• Prepare reports, P&IDs, process layouts, and fabrication drawings

• Review and coordinate design drawings, identifying errors and mitigating risks

• Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and project schedules

• Develop technical specifications and contract documentation

• Source and procure equipment and materials within project timelines and budgets

• Coordinate with technical teams, trades, and field staff throughout project execution

• Manage and maintain project documentation (RFIs, CCOs, shop drawings, etc.)

• Conduct site inspections and support construction activities

• Assist in preparing as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and testing reports

• Ensure work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, and contractual standards

Qualifications & Experience

• 0–4+ years of experience in engineering or construction (co-op/internship experience considered)

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Process, or Chemical Engineering

• Registered as an EIT with EGBC or eligible for immediate registration (P.Eng considered an asset)

• Exposure to construction environments or design-build projects is required

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

• Experience or interest in water/wastewater process engineering is an asset

• Familiarity with environmental regulations, drinking water standards, and building codes is an asset

• General understanding of multidisciplinary systems (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C) is beneficial

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
