MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of its client for a Construction Project Manager to support planning, estimating, scheduling, and field coordination activities across infrastructure and construction projects.

This position is well suited to a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of construction practices who enjoys working across both technical and coordination functions within a project environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on engineering specifications, contract conditions, and project requirements

• Develop quantity take-offs and perform cost calculations for materials, labour, and equipment using unit rates or base data

• Analyze project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates and schedules

• Apply cost markups and ensure alignment with project financial and overhead considerations

• Prepare and maintain project schedules, coordinating activities across teams and stakeholders

• Support field coordination activities and provide technical guidance to construction crews and project teams

• Review drawings, specifications, and material requirements to support procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors

• Compile bid documents, tender submissions, and comparative cost analyses for contractor proposals

• Track project progress through reports, charts, and cost analysis, identifying discrepancies and recommending adjustments

• Maintain records of production rates, material costs, and equipment costs for ongoing and future project use

• Review cost and progress reports to assess alignment with estimates and evaluate the impact of schedule changes

• Assist in contract preparation, requisitions, and procurement processes

• Prepare technical reports and documentation to support project execution and decision-making

• Participate in project teams and support coordination across internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

• Diploma of Technology or Degree in a construction-related field such as Engineering, Forestry, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or Quantity Surveying; or a related trades qualification

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and/or project management (field and/or office-based)

• Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle for site visits

• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project coordination practices across infrastructure, generation, substation, or transmission & distribution environments

• Strong knowledge of applicable standards and codes within a relevant discipline (civil, mechanical, or electrical)

• Experience preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and project schedules

• Ability to analyze project costs, schedules, and risks, and recommend adjustments as required

• Strong understanding of project management principles including cost control, scheduling, and coordination

• Proficiency with computer applications related to estimating, scheduling, and project management

• Basic drafting and design skills are considered an asset

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across project teams

• Ability to read and prepare technical reports and documentation

• Willingness to work full-time in-office with site visits as required

Assets

• Experience supporting construction projects within utility or infrastructure environments

• Exposure to field coordination and site-based construction activities
