MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our client, a well-established General Contractor based in Abbotsford with over two decades of experience delivering commercial and multi-family construction projects across the Lower Mainland.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s Health & Safety Program
• Ensure full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and applicable legislation across all active projects
• Partner with the General Superintendent on project startup, planning, and high-risk activities
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across multiple job sites
• Support Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and field teams with safety guidance and best practices
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; produce reports and implement corrective actions
• Deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
• Maintain COR certification and ensure audit readiness
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders as required
• Track safety metrics, maintain documentation, and report to senior leadership
• Develop site-specific safe work procedures and job hazard analyses
• Promote a proactive, accountability-driven safety culture across the organization
• Oversee warehouse equipment and tool inventory, ensuring safe use, maintenance, and tracking

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Health & Safety experience within construction (General Contractor experience preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and BC OH&S standards
• COR Internal Auditor certification (or ability to obtain)
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is an asset
• Professional designation such as CRSP, NCSO, or CSO preferred
• Experience supporting commercial and/or multi-family construction projects
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels
• Highly organized with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to job sites
