MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Construction Officer (Level 3) for a long-term contract opportunity supporting one of the largest utility providers in British Columbia. This role is ideal for an experienced construction professional with strong site coordination, contract administration, and safety leadership experience across civil, electrical, or mechanical infrastructure projects.

This position is based in Castlegar, BC, and local candidates within commuting distance will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and inspect construction activities on utility infrastructure projects including substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric facilities
• Monitor project progress, materials, schedules, and costs to ensure alignment with project requirements and contract expectations
• Support contract and work order administration, including contractor coordination and compliance monitoring
• Act as the primary on-site liaison between project teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
• Lead and support construction safety activities, including Safe Work Observations and site safety coordination
• Coordinate testing, surveying, estimating, and inspection activities throughout project execution
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
• Prepare project reports, maintain records, and coordinate permits and clearances
• Identify and help resolve construction, environmental, and technical issues in the field

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of construction experience in civil, electrical, or mechanical infrastructure projects
• Diploma in Civil & Structural or Electrical Technology, relevant trades apprenticeship, or equivalent
• Additional training in contract law
• Experience working as a supervisor or foreperson
• Strong ability to interpret, negotiate, and manage construction contracts
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle
• Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health standards and WorkSafe regulations
• Excellent communication and coordination skills

• Previous utility industry experience
