(EIT) – Telecommunications Engineering

Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)
Duration: 6-Month Contract

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support one of British Columbia's largest utility companies. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain experience supporting engineering programs, telecommunications initiatives, and project coordination within a large infrastructure environment.

Working under the guidance of senior engineering professionals, you will support engineering intake, project controls, data management, training coordination, and engineering systems while contributing to critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering programs through intake coordination and project administration.
• Assist with data management activities to ensure data integrity, quality, and lifecycle alignment.
• Coordinate engineering documentation, records, and reporting.
• Support project controls, including scheduling, tracking, dashboards, and progress reporting.
• Assist with training coordination and documentation for engineering teams.
• Support Telecom Design Tools and related engineering systems.
• Participate in engineering studies and technical tasks under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Assist with engineering documentation, quality control, and design compliance activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support engineering projects and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
• Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid office environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with engineering design software and CAD systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting telecommunications, utility, or infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to project controls, scheduling, reporting, and dashboard development.
• Experience with data management and reporting tools such as Excel, SharePoint, or Power BI.
• Experience using Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project management platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance and quality control practices.
• Experience supporting engineering intake processes, program coordination, or training initiatives.
• Familiarity with utility engineering standards and processes.
