Communications Professional
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid – Minimum 2 Days per Week Onsite. Travel may be required to Non Integrated Areas)
Duration: Contract until March 31, 2027
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Communications Professional to support a large utility organization on high-profile communications, stakeholder engagement, and change management initiatives.
This role is ideal for a senior communications professional with experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder projects, infrastructure initiatives, public affairs, and strategic communications planning.
Responsibilities

Develop and execute communication plans for formal programs, projects, and strategic initiatives.

Write and edit communication materials, including newsletters, management reports, presentations, web content, and stakeholder updates.

Provide senior-level communications advice to business leaders, project teams, and stakeholders.

Support stakeholder engagement, change management, and high-risk or high-profile communication activities.

Present communication plans, progress updates, and implementation strategies to business leads, steering committees, and executive sponsors.

Translate complex technical, regulatory, or energy-related information into clear and accessible language.

Support digital and multimedia communications, including websites, social media, video, and newsletters.

Advise on communication best practices, stakeholder relations, standards, policies, and procedures.

Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.

Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or stakeholder engagement.

Experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder or infrastructure/energy projects.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Strong ability to simplify complex technical, regulatory, or energy concepts for diverse audiences.

Experience with digital and multimedia communications, including websites, social media, video, newsletters, and content management.

Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

SharePoint or document management system experience.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, or equivalent, with a clean driving record.

Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in the energy, utilities, regulatory, government, or public sector environment.

Experience working on infrastructure or energy-related projects.
-
Experience supporting communications for remote or non-integrated communities.
