About the Opportunity
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer on behalf of a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm with a strong presence across Canada. Our client delivers complex engineering solutions to the mining, energy, and industrial sectors and is looking to add an experienced technical leader to its growing Vancouver team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineering professional who enjoys leading multidisciplinary projects, mentoring technical teams, and building long-term client relationships while contributing to major mining and power infrastructure projects across Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil engineering design and delivery of mining, power, and heavy civil infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
- Act as a Technical Lead and/or Engineer of Record (EOR) on complex engineering assignments.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
- Oversee the design of earthworks, drainage systems, water management infrastructure, haul roads, and other site civil works.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams while ensuring technical quality, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and client communications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope definition, client presentations, and cost estimates.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the civil engineering team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with EGBC or eligible for registration.
- 20+ years of civil engineering experience, including significant exposure to mining, industrial, or heavy civil projects.
- Strong experience designing earthworks, drainage, water management systems, roads, and related civil infrastructure.
- Previous experience serving as a Technical Lead, Project Engineer, or Engineer of Record.
- Demonstrated project management and multidisciplinary coordination experience.
- Strong client-facing skills with experience supporting business development initiatives.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other civil engineering design software.
- Previous experience with dam safety, tailings, hydraulic structures, or hydroelectric infrastructure is considered a strong asset.
