Qualified Coordinator (Construction Safety)
Location: Revelstoke, BC
Duration: 12-Month Contract
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Qualified Coordinator to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers on a major construction project. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with extensive experience in multi-contractor construction environments to lead site-wide health and safety coordination and ensure regulatory compliance across complex infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will act as the Qualified Coordinator on a multi-employer construction worksite, providing leadership, oversight, and collaboration to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities

Act as the Qualified Coordinator on multi-employer construction worksites.

Coordinate health and safety activities between contractors, trades, and project teams.

Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Prime Contractor responsibilities.

Identify, communicate, and mitigate workplace hazards across all employers on site.

Conduct workplace inspections and monitor compliance with safety programs and procedures.

Develop, maintain, and update the Prime Contractor Safety Management Plan.

Ensure Notices of Project (NOP) are submitted and maintained as required.

Coordinate first aid requirements, emergency response planning, mock drills, and site evacuations.

Lead site safety meetings, orientations, and contractor coordination activities.

Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.

Mentor field personnel and promote a collaborative, safety-first culture across the project.

Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance throughout project execution.
Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of experience in a multi-contractor construction environment with direct responsibility for contractor coordination and regulatory safety compliance.

Experience working on construction, industrial, infrastructure, utility, civil, or heavy industrial projects.

Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements for multi-employer worksites.

Working knowledge of Prime Contractor responsibilities and contractor coordination requirements.

Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship management skills.

Demonstrated ability to build collaborative, respectful, and safety-focused work environments.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Experience on hydro, utility, civil, electrical, mechanical, transmission, tunnelling, dam, or large industrial construction projects.

Strong facilitation skills for contractor meetings, site orientations, and safety workshops.

Mental Health First Aid, leadership, or conflict resolution training.

Experience working in remote camp or high-risk construction environments.
