Reporting and Analytics Advisor

Location: Burnaby, BC
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Minimum 2 Days per Week Onsite

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Reporting and Analytics Advisor to support one of British Columbia’s largest utility providers. This position will provide full-time support, helping transform complex project and portfolio data into meaningful insights, executive reporting, and actionable business information.

The successful candidate will combine strong Power BI and Excel expertise with business analysis, reporting coordination, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analytics professional to contribute to reporting and decision-making for a major infrastructure portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex, high-volume datasets and translate information into clear, actionable business insights.
• Develop data models, dashboards, reports, visualizations, and compelling visual stories using Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and other analytics tools.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into clear data, reporting, and analytics requirements.
• Work across technical and non-technical teams to develop practical reporting and analytics solutions.
• Analyze existing reporting and business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and root causes.
• Recommend and support process improvements that strengthen reporting outcomes and business processes.
• Coordinate reporting packages and reporting cycles, including gathering inputs, completing analysis, conducting QA/QC, and facilitating stakeholder reviews.
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery of internal and external reporting commitments.
• Support senior leadership reporting, including KPIs, scorecards, executive presentations, and reporting packages.
• Build effective relationships with project teams, business subject matter experts, technology teams, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate discussions to understand priorities, gather requirements, resolve issues, and drive reporting outcomes.
• Apply sound judgment to complex or ambiguous problems and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
• Support reporting governance, data quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of strategic business analysis experience or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Advanced Power BI and Excel skills, including experience analyzing large and complex datasets.
• Strong experience developing dashboards, reports, data models, and visualizations.
• Demonstrated business analysis experience, including requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and translating business needs into reporting and analytics solutions.
• Experience coordinating reporting cycles and delivering accurate, timely executive reporting packages.
• Strong process improvement, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience supporting senior leadership reporting, KPI development, scorecards, and executive presentations.
• Knowledge of reporting governance, data quality management, and QA/QC practices.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across both technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong judgment and ability to navigate complex and changing priorities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Tableau, SQL, or other advanced analytics and reporting tools.
• Portfolio, PMO, project, or performance reporting experience within a large and complex organization.
• Experience within the utility, infrastructure, public sector, or another regulated industry.
• Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project delivery environments.
