MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Data Analyst for a 12 month contract role at a client of ours located in Edmonton
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of asset-related data across enterprise systems through data entry, validation, updating,reconciliation, and ongoing quality monitoring.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies, gaps, and inconsistencies by collaborating with operations, engineering, field personnel, and other businessstakeholders.
- Perform data stewardship activities to ensure compliance with established data standards, business rules, and governance requirements.
- Support data governance initiatives by documenting data definitions, business processes, workflows, metadata, and data quality procedures.
- Develop, monitor, and report on key data quality metrics and performance indicators to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
- Maintain and update data reference libraries, asset hierarchies, standards documentation, and related governance artifacts.
- Prepare, validate, and provide data sets and supporting documentation for audits, regulatory reporting, compliance activities, and business reporting requirements.
- Analyze existing data management processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data reliability.
- Identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation, leveraging appropriate tools and technologies to streamline data collection, maintenance, and reporting activities.
- Develop user guides, training materials, and documentation to promote consistent data management practices and improve user adoption of standards and processes.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to system users and business stakeholders regarding data standards, data quality expectations, and asset information management practices.
- Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to ensure underlying data structures, hierarchies, and datasets support business intelligence, reporting, and strategic planning requirements.
- Participate in system enhancements, testing activities, and process improvement initiatives related to asset information and data management.
- Support cross-functional projects and initiatives requiring data analysis, data validation, and asset information expertise.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Well-organized, fast learner and able to be flexible in delivery method as conditions warrant;
- Knowledge of transmission and distribution asset construction means and methods;
- Strong safety focus and the ability to lead by example to set the tone and direction for health and safety focus on projects;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Strong customer service focus;
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and integrity;
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft Power BI and
- PowerPoint;
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve;
- Good judgment and reasoning skills; and
- Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
