Project Manager – Business Change
Location: Lower Mainland, BC (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Travel: Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence required
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Business Change to support one of British Columbia’s largest utility providers. This role will manage a diverse portfolio of projects within Security, Business Continuity, and Emergency Management, with a strong focus on risk management, business process change, stakeholder engagement, and successful transition of projects into ongoing operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience within a utility or similar complex environment and is comfortable leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities, and coordinating projects that have significant process and people impacts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects of varying size, complexity, and risk within a Security, Business Continuity, and Emergency Management portfolio.
- Lead projects involving risk management, business process change, and people impacts.
- Develop and manage project plans covering scope, budget, schedule, resources, responsibilities, risks, and key deliverables.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders and business areas.
- Apply project and change management practices to support successful implementation and transition into business operations.
- Develop project and risk management plans and proactively identify, analyze, monitor, and report project risks.
- Monitor project benefits, resources, schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall status.
- Prepare project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports, business cases, financial reports, and post-implementation reviews.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while ensuring project objectives align with business priorities.
- Act as a business process liaison and provide ongoing support to client groups.
- Partner with Change Management and Communications teams to develop and execute change management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and training plans.
- Provide clear project reporting and escalate risks or issues as required.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, with quality, within budget, and on schedule.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience within a utility or similar environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Business, Operations, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proven ability to organize and lead cross-functional project teams while delivering multiple projects or workstreams.
- Experience managing projects involving risk management and/or business process change.
- Strong project planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
Nice to Have
- PMP or other recognized Project Management certification.
- Strong leadership skills and experience working within established project management frameworks.
- Experience delivering projects in an energized environment.
- Previous experience within the utilities sector.
- Experience supporting Security, Business Continuity, Emergency Management, or similar risk-focused portfolios.
