Project Performance Analyst

Location: Vancouver, BC
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in office

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Performance Analyst to support one of British Columbia’s largest utility providers. This role is focused on transforming project and portfolio data into actionable insights, maintaining reliable performance reporting, improving business processes, and communicating findings to project teams and senior leadership.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience with Power BI, Excel, Power Query, data analysis, portfolio reporting, and data visualization, along with the ability to work independently with complex project performance data.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, clean, transform, and analyze project performance data from SAP-BW and other enterprise systems.

• Develop and maintain reliable portfolio and project performance reporting.

• Produce standardized monthly and quarterly reports as well as timely ad hoc analysis.

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.

• Transform complex project data into meaningful insights that support business and portfolio decision-making.

• Present analytical findings and reporting results clearly to project teams, senior leaders, and other stakeholders.

• Support portfolio management activities including forecast deep-dive reviews and project releases.

• Identify reporting gaps and recommend improvements based on analytical findings and business requirements.

• Develop repeatable and standardized reporting processes to improve efficiency and consistency.

• Document operational processes, reporting procedures, and analytical activities.

• Partner with technology teams to ensure systems supporting portfolio management reporting provide reliable, on-demand access to required data.

• Independently investigate and resolve moderately complex reporting, data, and business process issues.

• Support senior team members and Team Leads with portfolio reporting and analysis as required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of strategic business analysis experience or equivalent.

• Strong hands-on Power BI experience – this is a mandatory requirement.

• Strong proficiency with Excel and Power Query.

• Demonstrated experience with data analysis and data visualization.

• Experience with portfolio and project reporting.

• Ability to extract, organize, analyze, and communicate complex business and project information.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience presenting analytical findings to both project teams and senior leadership.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to independently identify reporting gaps and develop practical solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Advanced written and spoken English skills for a professional environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SAP-BW or similar enterprise reporting/data systems.

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics.

• Experience developing automated or standardized reporting processes.

• Exposure to portfolio management, project performance, forecasting, or project controls environments.

• Experience supporting process improvement initiatives.
