• Location: Edmonton, Alberta
  • Type: Direct Hire
  • Job #14735
  • Salary: CA$135,000 Per Hour

About the Opportunity

Our client is an established, privately operated construction company with over 30 years of experience delivering specialized projects across Canada. The company focuses on cold storage, food processing, distribution facilities, industrial tenant improvements, and design-build construction.

With a growing project portfolio and a collaborative, close-knit team, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Edmonton office. This is an opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial client inquiry and estimating through construction, closeout, and ongoing maintenance.

Projects typically range from $10M to $50M, with some exceeding $50M.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from initial client discussions and pre-construction through execution, closeout, and post-construction support.

  • Develop project budgets, estimates, schedules, forecasts, and execution plans.

  • Source subcontractor and supplier quotations, review costs, and collaborate with the team to develop competitive, accurate estimates.

  • Oversee project financial performance, including cost control, cash flow, forecasting, and change management.

  • Coordinate closely with site superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

  • Conduct site visits and work directly with field teams to monitor progress, resolve issues, and maintain project quality and schedule.

  • Manage contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.

  • Maintain regular client communication and build strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Identify potential risks and schedule or budget impacts early, developing practical solutions to keep projects on track.

  • Ensure work meets applicable safety requirements, building codes, quality standards, and project-specific specifications.

  • Support project closeout, deficiency resolution, and ongoing maintenance requirements.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while balancing client expectations, financial objectives, and construction priorities.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 7 years of progressive construction project management experience.

  • Experience managing projects through the full construction lifecycle, including estimating, budgeting, execution, and closeout.

  • Background in commercial construction, industrial construction, design-build, tenant improvements, or similar project environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and competing priorities.

  • Strong estimating, cost management, forecasting, and contract administration skills.

  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, procurement, site coordination, and project delivery.

  • Excellent client-facing communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills.

  • A hands-on, accountable approach to project ownership and problem-solving.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with site superintendents, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working in person from the Edmonton office, with occasional site visits as required.

Experience in cold storage, food processing, temperature-controlled facilities, or distribution construction would be an asset.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • Full-cycle ownership: You can take a project from initial budgeting and estimating through construction, closeout, and ongoing client support.

  • Commercial mindset: You understand how estimating decisions, procurement, cost control, and change management affect project profitability.

  • Client-focused delivery: You communicate confidently with clients and stakeholders while building long-term relationships.

  • Field coordination: You work effectively with site superintendents and subcontractors to maintain project progress and resolve issues.

  • Adaptability: You are comfortable managing several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Accountability: You take ownership of project outcomes, anticipate challenges, and focus on practical solutions.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Competitive annual salary of $130,000–$145,000.

  • Full-time, permanent opportunity with an established construction business.

  • Exposure to technically specialized projects typically valued at $10M–$50M+, with opportunities to manage larger projects.

  • A collaborative, close-knit team with an approachable leadership structure and open communication.

  • Direct involvement across estimating, pre-construction, project execution, and client relationship management.

  • Opportunity to contribute to a growing project portfolio and take meaningful ownership of project delivery.

Benefits

  • Extended health care

  • Dental care

  • Vision care

  • Life insurance
