MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Associate Civil Designer in Calgary, AB. Our client is an independent consulting engineering firm specializing in site services design, grading, and stormwater management for residential and commercial developments. This person will be a part of a larger succession plan in the company.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Engineers to develop grading, servicing, and stormwater management plans for land development projects.
• Utilize AutoCAD/Civil 3D to create drawing sets for submission to municipal jurisdictions, while reviewing and interpreting site plans, survey plans, and other essential documents.
• Coordinate with team members and external consultants to address design challenges and support the coordination of design approvals.
• Conduct engineering analysis, cost estimation, and tender preparation, alongside providing contract administration during the construction phase.
• Directly engage in detailed engineering drawings for various municipal engineering projects, provide guidance to junior staff, and prepare contract documents for project tendering and execution.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience utilizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software and Microsoft Office, with strong computer literacy.
• Possess fundamental knowledge of standards for Development Site Servicing Packages (DSSP) and Construction Drawings, alongside familiarity with municipal engineering design criteria and relevant provincial building codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
• Post-secondary education in a related field, with field experience considered advantageous.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of municipal infrastructure design for public or private sector clients, including technical design issues, constructability, and tender preparation, with limited construction administration experience.
