MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Bridge Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading employee-owned Canadian engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Alberta’s transportation and infrastructure sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate, collaborative team delivering technically complex and community-defining bridge projects across the province.
The Bridge Engineer will play a key role in leading structural design teams, managing project delivery, and contributing to landmark infrastructure projects that shape Alberta’s transportation network. This position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton and offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design
- Lead structural teams in analysis, design, evaluation, and preparation of calculations and drawings for bridge and transportation structure projects.
- Prepare technical reports based on modelling, analysis, and design calculations.
- Guide and mentor junior engineering staff throughout project delivery.
Project Management
- Manage projects within defined scope, budget, and quality requirements.
- Monitor, control, and report project status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support fee forecasting, preparation, and financial allocation for projects.
Business Development & Documentation
- Prepare proposals, bid documentation, and contract deliverables.
- Contribute to the growth and profile of the Transportation Structures team.
Qualifications
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
Professional Registration
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligible for registration.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive bridge engineering experience within the consulting industry.
- Experience working with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors is a strong asset.
- Experience with City of Edmonton projects is an asset.
Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Superior organizational and planning abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Proven ability to lead design teams and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Valid driver’s license required; occasional travel expected.
