We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Construction Planner to join our team supporting the Construction Management division. This hybrid role plays a key part in early-phase project planning and strategic portfolio-level planning initiatives. It requires deep on-site experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

This role falls under the Construction Planning, Practice, and Controls team within the Capital Construction business unit and involves interfacing with construction managers, project teams, and internal/external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply the Construction and Contract Management (CCM) practice to identify and mitigate construction risks during the early planning stages.
  • Develop construction planning deliverables including Construction Management Plans, constructability reviews, and construction work package estimates.
  • Support contract development processes and procurement of complex, high-risk construction contracts.
  • Ensure safety, quality, schedule, cost, and scope compliance according to corporate standards.
  • Lead constructability reviews and provide technical input during project planning.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on CCM practices and contracting processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify planning needs and resource allocation across a multi-year capital plan.
  • Mentor and support junior construction planners within the team.
  • Provide feedback and improvements to pre-construction planning procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in construction management, planning, or equivalent field.
  • Education: Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Candidates with extensive industry experience and training without a formal degree will also be considered.

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, estimating, contract management, and risk management.
  • Strong working knowledge of occupational safety standards and WorkSafe regulations.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse projects and programs with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Travel: Occasional site visits (up to once per quarter).
  • Language: Advanced English proficiency required (spoken and written).
