As a Construction QC Manager, you will be responsible for the monitoring and reviewing of the entire documentation and physical inspection phases of the work in conjunction with other in-house and third party consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall management of the construction quality control system
- Work with senior management, be responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Control Policy, Processes and Standards for the Construction Group
- Work with project teams, consultants and testing agencies to develop and implement project specific Construction Quality Control plans
- Conduct pre-construction meetings with project teams prior to the start of each new project and new phase of the work to confirm quality control parameters and document the deliverables
- Work with operations to develop QC checklists and inspection/test plans for all self-delivered construction work
- Conduct periodic inspections and reviews to verify the work is proceeding as per the contract documents and approved CQC plans
- Verify that appropriate checklists are being used and signed off prior to the placement of concrete, steel and other similar items of work
- Evaluate the adequacy of all quality standards put in place and identify areas of concern
- Monitor the construction progress for quality assurance, tracking and reporting on the status of inspection activities and closeout non-conformance issues
- Report and document areas of non-compliance and trouble-shoot with Superintendent
- Oversee document management and assist in preparing project submittals and closeout documents
- Conduct random testing and measuring of the work to ensure contract and CQC plan compliance
- Ensure all test results and inspection reports are documented and properly filed
- Ensure as-built drawings are accurate and are a complete documentation of work performed
- Other duties as required
Desired Skills and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years quality management experience in a construction industry
- Experience with large complex projects up to $150 million in size
- Experience in development of Quality System Procedures and Inspections
- Familiarity with various industry codes, standards and regulations governing quality management
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Must be a self-starter, be organized, have good interpersonal skills and time management skills
