MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a CSO with high-rise tower crane experience to join our client, a multi-family developer delivering woodframe and concrete residential communities across Western Canada.

The CSO will lead site safety execution with a specific focus on tower crane risk management on 34-storey concrete high-rise in Surrey. This role demands hands-on review of lift plans, crane documentation, and daily crane-related hazard monitoring. Responsibilities

• Review and validate lift plans for engineered lifts and critical picks.
• Monitor crane logbooks, inspection records, certifications, and maintenance documentation.
• Verify operator qualifications and compliance with regulatory and manufacturer standards.
• Participate in high-risk activity planning including multi-crane coordination.
• Identify and escalate crane-related hazards immediately.

• Conduct documented inspections aligned with WorkSafeBC and COR standards.
• Enforce company safety policies across all trades.
• Lead site orientations and reinforce project-specific hazards.
• Support JHSC processes including documentation and action tracking.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Support internal and external COR audits.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance including JHAs, toolbox talks, and SWPs.

• Mentor junior safety personnel and support frontline supervisors.
• Promote proactive hazard identification and accountability across the site.

Requirements

• NCSO designation.
• Advanced First Aid.
• Minimum 5 years construction safety experience.
• Direct tower crane exposure on high-rise projects.
• Demonstrated ability to review lift plans and manage crane risk.
• High-rise concrete project background required.
• Valid driver’s license.
