Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Construction Side Coordinator to work on a 1-year contract for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.
Location: Nanaimo, BC | Hybrid 
Overview: The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties related to planning, estimating, scheduling and field coordination activities to construction activities.
Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates considering engineering specs and contract conditions, recommending cost-effective methods and procedures.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs, direct cost calculations for materials, and risk assessments during the estimating process.
• Apply markups to ensure full overhead recovery.
• Develop project work schedules, coordinate activities, and assist with site surveys, drafting, and electrical testing.
• Compile pay item schedules for bids and tenders, verify contractor quantity calculations, and review cost/progress reports for cost-schedule impact.
• Coordinate with suppliers for material/equipment costs and provide technical advice to field crews.
• Maintain records of equipment, production, and material costs, and ensure documentation accuracy.

Requirements:

• Diploma of Technology from an institute of technology or Degree in a construction related field such as Engineering, Forestry, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration or Quantity Surveying; or a related trades qualification (such as Electrician, Winder, Power Line Technician, General Trades 1 or Millwright)
• 5 years of experience in construction and/or project management
• Ability to support construction crew
• Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments
• Willingness to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites
• Must be comfortable with frequent driving to various project or field sites
