MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Data Scientist for a 10 month contract role with a client of ours located in Vancouver.
Responsibilities:

• Building reusable machine learning frameworks and feature stores that scale production-ready analytics across the organization.
• Developing uplift modeling capabilities to understand causal effects of campaigns and optimize incremental gains.
• Design an LLM-powered hypothesis generation system leveraging our data lake, past experiments, and business insights to accelerate testing ideation.
• Develop predictive models—market basket analysis, behavioral profiling, churn prediction, demand forecasting—to support business decisions.
• Build data products that optimize marketing performance: budget allocation, targeting, attribution, and multi-channel campaign optimization.
• Drive marketing ROI through A/B testing, causal inference, and incrementality analysis.
• Present insights to executives and stakeholders.
• Leverage AI tooling to streamline operations and focus on high-impact strategic problems.
• Leading the end-to-end delivery of analytics products: problem framing, requirements, data readiness, modeling approach, validation, deployment plan, and adoption enablement.
• Partnering closely with Data Engineering to design production-grade pipelines, SLAs, and data quality controls for model inputs and outputs.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI roles, with demonstrated experience deploying models into production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; hands-on experience with machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data processing frameworks (PySpark, Databricks).
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), NLP techniques, and GenAI applications including prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and fine-tuning approaches.
• Solid understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and causal inference techniques to validate model impact and measure incrementality.
• Experience with marketing analytics including attribution modeling, customer segmentation, and campaign measurement.
• Experience with sentiment analysis, text classification, and other NLP methods for extracting insights from unstructured data.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices including model versioning, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for ML systems.
• Experience with data visualization tools (preferably Power BI) and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
