MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Design Technician for our client, a leading Vancouver-based, multi-disciplinary design and development studio specializing in community planning, urban design, land development, resort design, public engagement, and project marketing.

The Design Technician will be responsible for assisting the client’s Managers and Directors in delivering high-quality urban design and land development projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys the challenge of creating thoughtful and innovative designs.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting Managers and Directors in developing site plans, grading plans, and visualizations for urban design and land development projects.
• Preparing and refining detailed grading plans in Civil 3D to meet project requirements.
• Using InfraWorks to explore and present conceptual site designs in collaborative settings.
• Supporting 3D visualization workflows by integrating tools such as QGIS, Blender, SketchUp, Twinmotion, and Photoshop into Civil 3D and InfraWorks processes.
• Contributing to quality reviews and ensuring deliverables align with the client’s standards.
• Providing technical support to the project team and mentoring junior technicians.

Requirements:

• Holds a degree or diploma in Community Planning, Urban Design, Civil Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or an equivalent qualification, with a practical understanding of urban design and land development principles.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and other relevant tools, with hands-on experience preparing conceptual site plans, grading plans, and visualizations.
• Familiar with supporting software such as QGIS, SketchUp, Revit, Twinmotion, Blender/Rhino, MicroStation, and Photoshop; experience integrating these into workflows is an asset.
• Familiar with Provincial and Municipal planning process and standards is an asset.
• Excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences effectively.
