Their work is rooted in long-term partnerships with First Nations and a commitment to building infrastructure that supports community resilience and long-term energy transition.

They are seeking an exceptionally experienced Director of Construction to lead and elevate the project management function while directly overseeing their most complex and high-value construction projects.

This position is ideally based in Whitehorse, Yukon, but may be performed remotely for candidates with demonstrated experience successfully leading distributed teams and remote construction portfolios.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures and project playbooks to ensure consistency, safety, and efficiency across all projects.

  • Standardize enterprise-wide templates and best practices for project delivery.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to establish ERP systems (e.g., Acumatica) as the single source of truth for project data, reporting, and documentation.

  • Define and monitor KPIs and performance benchmarks to drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead initiatives that enhance organizational project management maturity and scalability.

  • Provide executive-level visibility into project risks, issues, and opportunities.

  • Partner with leadership to conduct capacity planning audits and optimize scheduling and equipment allocation.

  • Maintain strategic relationships with key clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day mentorship, coaching, and performance management for Project Managers.

  • Design and deliver training initiatives to upskill PM staff in advanced methodologies and tools.

  • Conduct regular development meetings to support performance growth and accountability.

  • Build and sustain a high-performing, collaborative project management culture.

  • Foster knowledge sharing and cross-project alignment.

  • Coordinate cross-project resource allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.

  • Monitor and report on portfolio-level performance across budget, schedule, safety, and quality metrics.

Tactical Responsibilities

  • Act as Senior Project Manager on the most complex, high-value, and technically challenging projects from planning through completion.

  • Serve as escalation point for critical project issues.

  • Oversee quality control and quality assurance protocols across the portfolio.

  • Ensure accurate forecasting, schedule integrity, and cost control.

  • Execute advanced project planning activities, including material take-offs and scheduling for large-scale projects.

  • Lead short-term planning and scheduling optimization at remote sites when required.

  • Ensure standardized systems are used consistently for tracking and reporting.

  • Coordinate onsite construction activities for projects under direct supervision.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Complete incident reporting and required safety documentation.

  • Prepare weekly executive-level reports on budget, schedule, and safety performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 15 years of construction project management experience with increasing responsibility and complexity.

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring project management teams.

  • Demonstrated success delivering large, complex construction projects on time and on budget.

  • Advanced skills in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.

  • Strong ability to develop and implement standardized processes and systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with project management software and ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with renewable energy construction (microgrids, BESS, wind, solar, or utility-scale projects).

  • Experience managing projects in northern or remote locations.

  • Electrical or civil construction background.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Acumatica and scheduling tools such as SmartSheet.

  • PMP, Gold Seal Certification, or P.Eng designation.
