MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking an Enterprise Architect for a 6- month contract role (with possibility of extension) with a client of ours located in Victoria. This position can work fully remote anywhere in Canada.
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with deep domain expertise in network architecture, computing/virtualization, and storage/backup systems to support a critical transformation program for a public sector client. This is a contract position for an initial term of 6 months, with a possibility of extension based on project requirements.
The successful candidate will play a strategic and technical leadership role, working closely with internal stakeholders, project managers, and external vendors to develop and govern enterprise-wide infrastructure solutions aligned with government standards, security mandates, and business objectives.
Required Skills
- Enterprise Architect with expertise in Network, computer/virtualization & storage/backup
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in enterprise IT architecture with specific focus on:
- Network architecture (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls, routing/switching, load balancers)
- Compute/virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, cloud IaaS/PaaS, containerization)
- Storage and backup systems (SAN/NAS, backup/recovery solutions, disaster recovery planning)
- Experience working in or with public sector organizations or large, complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and government IT compliance standards.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining architectural artifacts (e.g., solution blueprints, roadmaps, standards).
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and deliver outcomes in a time-constrained environment.
- Experience with government procurement or tender processes.
- Familiarity with cloud migration strategies (e.g., hybrid/multi-cloud), particularly in regulated environments.
Accountabilities
- Provides advice to executive on alternatives and solutions, product evaluation, risk assessment and cost benefit analysis of existing and future information technology infrastructure.
- Develops multi-year technology and service roadmaps, plans and strategies.
- Provides technical expertise and recommendations in planning, procurement, and sourcing strategies.
- Manages the overall application environment used to develop and maintain all ministry custom applications.
- Provides technical expertise and advice to systems professionals supporting corporate databases and applications.
- Leads and develops the definition, implementation and enforcement of technical architecture policy, procedures, and standards.
- Leads technical projects to revise the infrastructure for ministry custom applications.
- Researches and evaluates all facets of technology architecture, new technologies, product effectiveness, potential obsolescence, and pilots new architectures.
- Supervises staff including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans and approval of leave.
