Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team in Burnaby. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects, ensuring that all aspects are considered to provide comprehensive and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for construction projects.

• Blueprint Analysis: Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.

• Tender Preparation: Develop and submit tender documents, ensuring compliance with all specifications and requirements.

• Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials.

• Budget Management: Monitor and adjust project budgets as necessary, ensuring projects remain within financial constraints.

• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them.

• Client Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, addressing any concerns or changes promptly.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a college program in civil or construction engineering technology, or several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimating.

• Skills:

  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Certifications: Certification by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is usually required.
