Overview:
A well-established and respected general contractor in Victoria, BC is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of construction methodologies, and a passion for accuracy in pricing and budgeting. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team with a strong reputation in the commercial and institutional construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather input for comprehensive bids.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess project risks.

• Prepare and present bid packages in a clear, professional format.

• Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, labor rates, and material costs.

• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.

• Maintain organized records of bid submissions, contracts, and related documents.

• Support the transition of successful bids to project teams.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within commercial and institutional projects.

• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.

• Solid understanding of local construction methods, building codes, and industry practices.

• Excellent computer skills, including experience with estimating software (e.g., Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar).

• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
