We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of infrastructure works including roadworks, utilities, bridges, and earthworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement staff to develop construction methodologies and project timelines.
• Solicit and review supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and complete pricing.
• Participate in bid reviews and ensure all aspects of the tender are complete and in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost records.
• Assist in preparing project budgets, change orders, and cost analysis during execution as needed.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of civil construction practices, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency with estimating software (such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
