Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with a well-established, client-focused general contractor known for delivering a diverse portfolio of high-profile and landmark construction projects. With a strong reputation built on flexibility, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, this team is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing pre-construction group.

This opportunity is best suited for an intermediate-level Estimator who is confident working with construction drawings, performing take-offs, and supporting full-cycle estimating on a variety of commercial and institutional projects.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction process, responsible for reviewing project documentation, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing detailed cost estimates. You will work closely with the Senior Estimator and Director of Pre-Construction while collaborating with consultants and trade partners to support accurate and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and RFPs to determine material and labour requirements

• Perform detailed quantity take-offs based on scopes of work

• Prepare accurate construction estimates using drawings, specifications, and subcontractor pricing

• Assist in the development of project schedules and pre-construction proposals

• Analyze tenders and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders

• Maintain standardized estimating procedures and cost control systems

• Liaise with consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scope

• Research and analyze cost data for internal reporting and presentations

• Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates using historical data

Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in a construction estimating role (GC experience considered)

• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Estimating, Engineering, or a related discipline

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff (OST)

• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and tendering processes

• Experience supporting bids across commercial, institutional, or mixed-use projects is an asset

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with clients and trade partners

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
